Nampally Sarai is a heritage resting place located in Nampally, Hyderabad, India.
==History==
The 'Nampally Saraai' or 'Tipu Khan Saraai' sarai was built by Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur in 1910. The building's original name was Tipu Khan Saraai(a peaceful resting place). It was built during the reign of Mir Mahboob Ali Khan. Nampally was chosen because of its proximity to the railway station and ''Carore giri'' (customs house) to enable visitors to pay customs duty and stay at the sarai. "Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur, a High Ranking Official with the H.H.Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Bahadur, Nizam VI, built Travellers Waiting Rooms, first time in the History of Hyderabad for public, at the Nampally Railway Station known as ‘TIPU KHAN SARAAI’ also known as 'Nampally Saraai' where the public i.e., travellers use to stay for three days and were provided with food free of cost irrespective of caste or community", says Wajahat Ahmed Khan, Great Grand son of Nawab Tipu Khan Bahadur (http://www.wajahatahmedkhan.com/tipu-khan-saraai/)
It was also used a state guest house after 1948 by Government of Andhra Pradesh. In 2002, the government contemplated of demolishing the structure and building a new one. In 2011, it received heritage site status from the government, because of the efforts of heritage activists and INTACH.
